Can the Phillies win their first series of the season? They need to win tonight to be able to do that. So far they have lost one series and tied another.

Phils head up to Shea
Nice win yesterday against the Reds to split the series. Now the Phils head to New York for a three game set against the Mets. Game one of the series starts today at 1:10 eastern. You can't really judge this early in the season but with the bad blood between these two teams it will be a good barometer test.

Bad News Good News
Bad News - They are 2-4.
Good News - The Nl East is not doing great and they are only one game behind the leaders.
Bad News - The #1 pitcher Bret Myers is sucking big time.
Good News - Cole Hamels and Chase Utley are starting off quite nicely.

Nice come from behind win
After being down 5 runs in the first inning it looked as if the Phillies were doomed to repeat history for the third straight season being swept at home to start the season. Then they decided enough was enough and staged a comeback that took them into extra innings where the Phillies came away with their first win of the season.
Now they are off to Cincinnati to start a series with the Reds.

Another loss at home
This time the pitching came through holding Washington to only one run, the offense failed miserable only getting one hit. Two in a row at home to start the season is embarrassing, if they don't win tonight I will be humiliated for them.

Cole Hamels Starts tonight
Let's hope he can right the ship and get the first victory of the season, it would be a major shame to start the season in the same fashion as they did the previous two, getting swept in the first series. Even if they do lose they will have an opportunity to not duplicate that because they have one more against Washington tomorrow. It would still suck losing the first two at home.

New season same old result
Once again the Phillies start off their season with a loss. Why? Pitching. Their offense did what it had to do putting up six runs and even coming from behind to tie the game up. The pitching let them down, letting up 11 runs, five of which came in the ninth.
Next game isn't until tomorrow. The man Cole Hamels takes the mound. The Mets and Johan Santana started off their season with a win, the Phillies can't get behind early this season because they will not be able to duplicate what happened last season. No way will the Mets collapse like they did a season ago.

Season Starts Monday!
Time to defend our NL East Championship!
The preseason is closing up and the Phillies finished the preseason much better than they started it. Are the ready for opening day? They start off the season at home against the Washington Nationals. The last two season the started the season off getting swept in the first series, They must not repeat that this season, as they will not be as fortunate as last with the Mets collapse.

Turning it around?
I don't want to blow anything out of proportion but they are starting to win in the pre-season, 3 in a row. I have no idea what to expect out of this season.
Thursday, March 13, 2008
They suck this preseason.
Another loss, may they aren't inspiring hopes of a better season than last year.

Poor pre-season start
I know it's just pre-season but they are last in the league and have given up 91 runs in 13 games. That is 7 runs a game. They say that pitchers are behind in pre-season but then why have they only scored 60 runs. I hope it gets better. I am worried about their chances. They did nothing to improve their pitching in the off season.

2007 NL East Champions
They should have saved this for when/if they ever do win the whole thing, not just the NL East.

Pre-season Opener
Looks like the pre-season opener starts today. The first step in defending the NL East title. Let's go Phillies.
Wednesday, February 27, 2008
Brett Myers to start the opener
The first game isn't for months. So why name a starter now? Why Brett Myers? Isn't Cole Hamels the #1? I am concerned that our #1 guy is Bret Myers that doesn't make me very confident. I can't even name the other three starters, can you?

Cover of SI
Did you see the Cover of this week's Sports Illustrated? It's Johan Santana in a Met's uniform. You know how much that whole thing enraged me. Yesterday on one of the ESPN shows maybe PTI they were discussing who will win the NL East. I hate to say it but without improving the pitching rotation, I think the Mets have the edge plus coming off that horrible collapse of last season they will have something to prove. I think the Phillies will be battling for a wild card spot.

Howard awarded 10 million by arbitrators
He deserves every penny. Why on earth would the Phillies even try and ruffle his feathers, we want him on the team for a very long time. I just hope this doesn't leave a bad taste in his mouth for the future. I really hait the Phillies higher ups. There is something really wrong with them.

A look bak at last season
You better not rest on your laurels from last season. You need to improve, get your a**** out there and get some pitching.
Wednesday, February 13, 2008
They better pay Howard is all I'm sayin
What are they thinking?
If they don't pay him his due money, and continue to not improve their team by not signing pitchers then I will seriously consider not supporting them until they do. I wont switch allegiances, I will just simply not care about them at all.
Tuesday, February 12, 2008
Again Why did we not go after him?
Not Johan Santana, although I am still miffed. Over the weekend, Erik Bedard, the best lefty in the AL got traded from the Orioles to the Mariners. This isn't as bad as the Santana deal because the Mariners aren't even in our league, but why are the Phillies not going after big name pitchers this offseason? That is the final piece to the puzzle. Get some more help in pitching and it's all over. What the hell are they thinking/waiting for?
I'm really getting ticked off.

Shane Victorino on WWE
Shane Victorino gets serenaded by some tone deaf chick in the WWE.
This is all pretty lame but what else is ther to talk about this off season. Oh yeah, the Phillies have no b**** in pulling of a trade to make this franchise real contenders.
Thursday, January 31, 2008
Johan Santana
Tell me again why the Phillies did not make a play for this? It is mind blowing, with him and the Phillies are serious World Series contenders. I will not let this go.

Phillies make another error
and its the off season.
As Rick Pitino would say, Steve Carlton is not coming through that door. He actually made that comment about Larry Bird, but I think it fits here. You guessed it, the bumbling hire ups of the Phillies Orginazation made no attempt to get one of the best pitchers in the game today, and instead let their biggest rivals get him easily.
Don't you get Phillies we need more of this!
You have everything else. get a few more pitchers and you will be deadly.
Tuesday, January 29, 2008
What the Hell?
Why are the Phillies making no push at all to sign super stud Johan Santana? Its not like they don't have the money. Year after year they get these middle of the road trades that do very little to improve the team dramatically. Now your biggest rivals are going after one of the best pitchers in the game, a position that you also need to improve on, and you make no attempt to try and acquire him? At the very least drive up the price on the Mets.
I am so disappointed that the Mets will be able to acquire him without so much as a peep on the Phillies end. Poor job of the GM, so on those terms I agree with crazy guy from yesterday.

Great moments in Philly Sports
Unfortunately there aren't many old school Phillies highlights, but I found this really great video incorporating all Philly teams.
Friday, January 11, 2008
Can they do it again in 2008?
It took them 13 years to get back to the playoffs but an early exit makes fans hunger for more. How long before they can get back and are serious contenders for the World Series? With stars like Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, and Cole Hamels, I don't think they will be waiting long. I just hope the Phillies can get some more pitchers in. I think that is all they need to be a serious contender in 2008.

Philadelphia Phillies 2007 NL East Champs!
It took them 13 years to get back to the playoffs, but something tells me it wont take another 13 to get back.
